FRANCISCO OLYERAFrancisco, or Pancho, is a long-time Napa resident. He is the "muscle" in the shop. Stripping old upholstery off of furniture, and stuffing cushions with new foam requires a fair amount of elbow grease; and a few upholsterer's tricks to do it right. We call on Pancho to assist Lalo with the heavy lifting on deliveries.

Threadbare, broken springs, flattened cushions some people see a piece of furniture ready for the trash heap. We see an opportunity to breathe new life into a family heirloom, or flea market find. When it comes to restoring and reupholstering, there is very little we haven't seen, (including lots of loose change, love notes, marbles, even a dead rat). Sagging Sofa and Dog Bed.
Featured in California Home and Design Magazine.
A Collapsed Mid-Century Contemporary.
Game - Set - Match
This eleven foot long daybed was built in the early 1900s. The family heirloom had obviously seen better days.
After stripping the daybed down to the bare frame, the craftsmen at Pollin's began the laborious process of rebuilding the frame.
The fine art of eight-way hand-tied springs.
Once the hundreds of springs were re-tied, layers of new cushioning was added.
Upholstered in a wonderfully bright contemporary fabric, the daybed is ready for another hundred years of use.
Grandma's favorite chair had been stowed away in the garage for years.
Completely restored, and upholstered in a lovely comptemporary velvet, the chair is now the grandaughter's favorite chair.
A mid-century contemporary garage sale find in need of a major makeover.
Garage sale gold.
A well worn arm chair.
Yes, it is the same chair -Redesigned with contemporary lines and fun fabrics.

Pollin's works with a number of the Napa Valley's best known restaurants, wineries and hotels. We also have designed and built a number of specialized upholstered pieces for area businesses.
Working directly with business owners or with their architect or interior designer, we can come up with solutions that can be completed on budget and in a timely fashion.
Working closely with designer Eileen Chiarello, wife of restauranteur Michael Chiarello, Pollin's helped design and build outdoor seating and cubes.
These upholstered cubes serve as both seating and small plate tables.
Pollin's upholstered the leather dining chairs in the main dining room.
Two eight foot by six foot display tables, and a seven foot by four foot counter were designed and built by Pollin's craftsmen. They were delivered on time and on budget for the store's grand opening.
Mock- crocadile white vinyl finished with thousands of bright nickel decoratve nails make for a dramatic display table.
Restaurant furniture takes a great deal of abuse. Pollin's reupholsters, repairs and maintains the dining chair seats, tableclothes, and chair bindings for this fine Mexican restaurant.
Dining chair seat custions.
Pollin's upholstered the club chairs and banquettes throughout the train.
Pollin's created comfortable and inviting cushions and pillows for the restaurant's patio seating.
This new restaurant in the heart of downtown Napa called upon Pollin's to upholster these curved banquettes in their lounge area.
This large bench sits outside the restaurant. Pollin's upholstered the bench in a bright green, stain and fade resistant, outdoor fabric.
Kimberly Rider Interiors was given the task of redesigning the game room for this year's showcase home. This is the room she and her team stated with.
The theme of this year's showcase was sustainable design, which is Kimberly's specialty. She asked Pollin's to bring some of her ideas to life.
Bold colors combined with fine art, found objects and custom made furnishings turned this ordinary room into a playfull and inviting space.
This chandelier over the pool table was the centerpiece of the room. It came to us as a wire frame and an idea. We gathered a lovely silvery fabric over the frame to produce this dramatic effect.
We built two of these ottomans using FSC certified wood for the frames, natural latex foam and organic cotton and wool batting for the cushioning. The fabric is a linen print provided by KRI.
Interior designer, Lynne Hobaugh provided rough drawings for her client's custom daybed.
With the frame completed, the daybed is stained and made ready for the upholstery.
Webbing is added to the seat of the daybed. Now it is ready for foam and fabric.
This chair, and ottoman were designed and build by our good friends at Chajo. Pollin's helped with the design of the back and seat. They are upholstered in a fine buttery leather.
The good folks at Chajo turn to Pollin's to upholster there popular cubes. Each cube is upholstered in leather. Then finished by the artists at Chajo with fosselized stone and metal tops.
This love seat was designed and built from the ground up. Upholstered in a lush patterned velvet, it is truly one of a kind.
Pollin's was commissioned by designer Caroline Lizarraga to build and upholster six chairs for a young family in San Francisco.
The two elegant fabrics selected for the chairs blend perfectly with Caroline's custom painted walls in the family's dining room.
We have built headboards of all shapes and sizes. Here are a few of the most frequently ordered styles.
The finishing details are added to this custom headboard and frame before breaking it all down for delivery to the client.
Reassembled on-site, the bed is ready for years of restful sleep.
Adding a spash of sunshine to the guest room of this San Fransico, Pacific Heights home. Room design by Cheryl DuCote Interior Architecture & Design.
After a week in New York, this client came to us with a photo of a headboard from the hotel room where she had stayed. She asked us to reinterperate the design for her master bedroom in her new home in Calistoga.
This headboard was built for Mill Valley based designer, Rachel Cleaveland. This is one of several photos featured in a recent issue of Better Homes and Gardens magazine.
These custom bench cushions make for a cozy eating area.
The owner of this clothing store in Sonoma brought us a rough sketch, and a vision of the display tables she wanted. Covered in a white mock-croc vinyl, the tables were finished with thousands of decorative nails.
Working with celebrated chef, Michael Chiarello and wife Eileen, who was the designer, Pollin's designed and built ottomans and outdoor seating at the restaurant. Interior chairs were upholstered in leather. Bon Appetito!
This classic arm chair is covered with a fine silk stripe. The maple frame is finished in a burnished ebony stain.
Perfectly suited for wine country, we built this large coffee tabel/ottoman for a family with two young children. The upholstery material is made of real cork.
Interior Designer, Sally Heitz commissioned Pollin's to build two settees. Inspired by classic settees of old, every detail of these pieces were hand made - right down to the hand carved scrolling on the legs and base.
The hand carved base is finished with a rich walnut stain.
With the springs and foam in place, the settees are ready for the luxurious golden mohair upholstery.
Build six wing chairs, upholstered with Crown Royal whiskey bags. That was the assignment. The chairs were a promotional program targeting Crown Royal drinkers. Hundreds of bags later, the results were quite surprising.
The wing chairs are built and covered with muslin.
The Crown Royal bags are cut apart and sewn together.
With the bags all sewn together, the task of laying them out and tacking them into place begins.
After many hours of work. The six chairs are completed and ready to be delivered.

BRIGHTER SHADES OF GREEN
BRIGHTER SHADES OF
GREEN
At Pollins Interiors & Custom Upholstery green runs deep. Bringing a more eco-friendly view to the home furnishings business is a major focus for us.By its very nature, reupholstering furniture is good for the environment. Furniture with good bones ends up with a new life, rather than ending up in a landfill. A good practice - Pollins uses low V.O.C. glues and adhesives, which are better for the environment, and healthier for our staff and our clients. We also offer organic cotton, wool and hemp batting, ticking and webbing. Natural latex foam and kapok fiber are also offered as an eco-friendly option to traditional poly-based cushion foam. For new furniture, we can build frames from recycled wood or Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified woods. It is encouraging to know that more and more of our fabric manufacturers and material suppliers are offering new eco-friendly designs and materials. Most fabric made for outdoor furniture is made from solution died acrylic, which is a natural by-product of petroleum refining. It is a cradle to cradle product - meaning remnant and worn out fabrics can be recycled into small acrylic pellets which can then be used to make other products. We are also seeing more fabrics using natural fibers, such as organic cotton and wool, and even bamboo. Many of the chemicals and dyes used in the production of fabrics are also becoming more eco-friendly. You can learn more by viewing the GreenGuardwebsite.
